#14666 - Union NCO Sword Modified by Sergeant for easy carry This is a Union NCO Sword that was modified by the soldier during the war by folding down one of the brass clamshells on the guard in order to hook it over his belt. This gave more support from the waist and carried off the ground higher. No markings found on sword. Brass has a warm honey colored toning. The blade is dark gunmetal color with some very superficial rust peppering which could be cleaned away if you preferred. Nice example of a truly Civil War-used sword. Sadly, the shipping of swords has gone up because US Mail and UPS get very challenged on anything heavy or over 30" now.
