#15061 - 1856 dime Carved Crude 100 th Indiana badge
This is an 1856 seated Liberty dime that was carved to a crudely engraved "100 IND VOLS" badge. This is the style of smoothing and engraving one side of a coin that was done frequently in the mid-1800s, often for "love Tokens". This has wear appropriate to a coin carved in 1860s. It has two perforations to sew to a garment, likely a lapel or chest of jacket. A modern penny shown next to it for perspective. Pretty neat for the Indiana collector!
