#15065 - Battered Union Eagle Breastplate dug in Virginia
This is a bent and battered Union infantryman's Eagle breastplate with edge splits. Solid in middle with brown-green patina. Slight dark brown "rust through" spot in center from iron loops leeching forward over the years underground. Loops now rusted away. Most of rear lead present. Found somewhere in Virginia many years ago. Question is: Was it twisted by battlefield calamity or damaged years later in the ground???
