#15171 - Museum Cannister Plate for 12 pounder Culps Hill GB
This is a thick iron canister end plate for a 12 pounder cannon. Recovered many years ago near Culp's Hill at Gettysburg private Site. And it resided for decades at the Shield's Museum in Gettysburg where kids could only gawk at it and dream. The museum closed, deaccessioning its original GB Battle relics. This plate came from those final sales. It has a light poly coating to prevent any further rusting and comes in a large Riker Case for safe & easy future display. Interestingly, it has a typed brown tag which reads: Culp's Hill, May 15, 1965 (it's recovery date) Once these are absorbed into collections, there are no more such GB Battlefield relics to be had.
