#15235 - 1863 Casey's Infantry Tactics Book with pencil notes
This is an original leather-bound 1863 Infantry Tactics book by Brig-Gen. Silas Casey published in New York City. These were common reading for Union officers and Non-Comms. The covers are embossed by Eagle Seals. The spine has date, title and another eagle in faded gold. There is a bookplate for Chester A. Jayne who I suppose was a later civilian owner since I cannot find him on CW troop database. But this was certainly owned first by a soldier who wrote some pencil marching order notes in rear. Book has music to common military songs in read, a fold out page, some trooper engravings and LOTs of reading about tactics. Some foxing to a few pages. Covers worn but binding solid. About 5 1/4" by 3 1/2".
