#15292 - Parrott Shell from Slaughter Pen at Fredericksburg
This is an original dug 10 pound Parrott Shell recovered near "the Slaughter Pen" south of the Railroad Tracks in Fredericksburg. Possibly thrown into advancing Union troops by Rebel battery. Unexploded and emptied through a drilled zinc nose fuze. Found in 1990 with landowner's permission. Found on the Southeastern corner of the battle. It has slight rust on surface but not flaking. Measures about 8.5 inches tall. Neat relic of gruesome conflict.
