#15327 - Battle Bruised 1864 Cavalry Sword off the Field
This is a true battle-scarred Union model 1860 cavalry saber odd the battlefield. It has slight surface rusting to blade which demonstrates many edge nicks (bites) from sword to sword impacts. No maker's marking seen (often Ames light marking gone). But other side ricasso shows "US" and "1864" to date it. Grip is solid and firm to blade. Leather wrap intact with only one strand braided wire left. Thus, outside after a conflict, but for not too long before gotten by CW era souvenir hunters. No scabbard. In collection of renowned Charlie Harris who bought it in Virginia in 1970's. Exact find site unknown.
