This is the dug bronze barrel of a Civil War "boot pistol" dug at Trevilian Station. Private land with owner's permission to recover relics. These one shot percussion pistols were common civilian "back-up" weapons brought to war by troops in case their musket or pistol were empty. Typically imported from England, Belgium or France. Has a rough preen patina. About 3 1/2" long. No markings clear.
