#15333 - Battle Wounded Early Eaglehead Sword
This is a pre-Civil War "eagle head sword" and scabbard. These were carried in Mexican War era and still found their way into the Civil War on older officers or from the South when weapons were in limited supply. This has a lovely cast brass eagle and bone grip. It comes with its original scabbard. 28" long blade shows minor specks and still bright from past cleaning. No maker markings found. This sword was likely picked off a battlefield by souvenir hunters. It suffered the loss of its hand guard in some type of fierce event. We see hundreds of cavalry sabers and officer's swords before one of these cool Old Timers. Great for those who like battle worn relics.
