#15382 - Center thin ornate bronze cross 58 New York camp
This is a bronze Orthodox Christian crucifix recovered in a 58 th New York Regiment camp in Stafford County Virginia. This was a camp with many Polish & Slavic heritage soldiers. Thus, the Orthodox branch. This was discovered buried with a stash of sutler's discarded goods. Only the center of a very thin, ornate cross with lots of designs. No loop but top had been pierced. Cool relic of soldiers' faith in holy protection during war. About 7/8 inches tall.
