This is an 1863 copper penny token created during the currency shortage in the North during the Civil War. It could be redeemed at John Thomas Jr's Coffee & Spices Mills in Albany, New York. Very Fine detail with a scrape on one rim. This private coinage practice was made illegal in 1864 by Government.
