#15556 - Bayonet made into Corpse Hook Fredericksburg
This is Civil War iron bayonet bent into a hook. These were used to drag the festering dead bodies of soldiers to graves without directly touching their infected clothing or putrefying flesh. This was discovered years ago in the creek along Sandy Ridge road near Fredericksburg, VA. The Union forces camped near there on & off for 3 years. There is overall light rusting. But solid. You could treat it with electrolysis, poly spray, or just leave it natural.
