#15801 - Union NCO sword with benchmark number
This is a Union NCO Sword from Civil war era with slight field modification. Clam shell part of brass grip bent down slightly in order to catch on belt edge for easier (higher) carrying. Has a "85" benchmark in underside grip. No maker's mark except small recessed rectangle on ricasso. Most often imported German blade, assembled then by US Maker such as Horstmann. No scabbard. Blade is about 31.5/8" long, set firmly in grip. Overall about 38". Nice example of truly CW field used weapon since not "surplus" with that modification.
