#15854 - Original Currier Ives Little Zouave Framed Lithograph
This is a cool original lithograph from Civil War period by famed Currier & Ives of a cute toddler in war regalia. Has full uniform and musket to counter his cherubic face. Likely channeling his father in the Army. Lots of "liberties" taken by designer at C&I to increase dramatic effects and bight added coloring. Has publisher notations in lower corners. Some age foxing spots, with a dark one at upper border of sheet. You could get print cleaned by a paper restorer in future, or just leave foxing to show its vintage provenance. The frame is 16 1/2" by 12 1/2" (more modern wood) If it were mine, I would switch into a period frame from a flea market someday... There is a modern edge mat, so 13" by 8 3/4" of litho image is shown. This one I have not seen before. I think it would lend cool effect to "Father, the Union Officer's den". Shipped in big padded box to protect glass.
