#15889 - Confederate improvised Minie to Nipple Cap
The soldiers often improvised a nipple cap from a discarded lead minie bullet. The top took the inside shape of the hammer, the bottom cavity of bullet took the shape of the nipple. This was often done by Confederate troopers on the march, wishing to keep water & debris out of the nipple flash hole. This one shows some soldier-shaped carving at the nose side. Site unknown. Dug.
