#15961 - Confederate Locally Made Brass Clipcorner Plate
"Clip corner" brass belt plates were quickly made in "local" metal shops to supply sudden demand for the large Confederated Army. They were crude and varied design, unlike CSA and Southern State plates which were cast. This plate is thick brass sheet metal with a nice scalloped corner design. A lovely green-brown patina. It is bent but sturdy. The original hooks were soldered on back and let loose during its years underground. No markings. 2 3/4" by 2 1/4". Site unknown.
