#16109 - Ambrotypes of Union trooper before & during war
These are two ninth-plate glass ambrotypes of the same man as a pre-War civilian and later a uniformed Union officer. The civilian image shows him with more randy hair style in a light suit. Leatherette case is held together by tape. Came from the "Carpenter Family" album, possibly of Connecticutt. The ambrotype shows him as a Captain. There is a black backer plate to give contrast to ambro glass. Leatherette case has taped spine. Minor emulsion scratches. A nice "before & after" set of hard images.
