#16346 - Pleated Folding Lady's Cackade Style Fan This lady's accessory from the CW period opens to reveal a pleated red paper fan. It is also called a "cockade fan." It's handles are covered in a oxblood red colored fabric of a fine bookcloth texture. Some covering lost through wear near tips, but very solid & functional. Opens to roughly 10" across. Flip clip at base holds it closed for carrying from the belt... Although sometimes referred to as "mourning fans" when they were black, these were fashion of the day fans that went to all societal events. Absolutely needed for a Reenactment ball.
