#17255 - Lieutenant R.R. Hazard 14 th R.I. HA shoulder straps
This is a pair of well-worn second lieutenant shoulder rank boards used by Union Lieutenant Rowland R. Hazard (1837 - 1921). He served for a few months in 1861 in the 1 st Rhode Island militia, but then from 1863 - 1864 in the 14 th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery. These were from that later service period. In artillery, he was a white officer to a "colored regiment." The straps are smaller, one a bit tattered in red field. They went through a lot of field action!
About 3" by 1 1/4". Open back CW era construction. They come in a free Riker display box for safe and easy future storage. A Certificate of Authenticity will be supplied, stating this officer source.
