#17261 - Rebel field demilitarized Union 58 Bayonet This is an interesting Union 58 caliber bayonet with light surface rust from being out in the field awhile before being taken up as a souvenir. It was obviously damaged in two places to prevent it from being later used in battle. The socket bent by a heavy strike. And the tip forcible napped off. I am guessing the rebs broke this to make it useless to later Union forces coming through the area. Neat. Site unknown.
