#17377 - Confederate Wood Drive In Fuse Hole Plug This is a Confederate wooden drive-in shell hole plus or fuse-holder adapter. Pounded down into hole in shell tightly with a mallet and then a chosen paper time-fuse inserted down it's shaft. The Confederates had little precision manufacturing like the North. So, these fuses were custom made at local wood-0working shops. They did the trick. This is for a smaller round ball shell. Of course it is unused. About 1 1/4" long by 1" across top with tapered body.
