#14738 - NCO Sword Scabbard with L.A. Marking This is a dug Union Model 1840 NCO sword scabbard throat as still standard-used during the Civil War. It has some dings and a minor seam split. Traces of old paper label, sadly with nothing left to read on it. It has "L.A." impressed into its rear surface. I suspect it might denote Light Artillery rather than a trooper's initials. Never seen this before! Very old collection. Site unknown.
