#15532 - Friction primers used on Civil War cannon These are dug brass friction primer. They were used on firing Civil War cannons in battle. The wires were pulled out at a distance using a hook on a cord. The friction of wire sparked a fulminant of mercury inside and lit the powder charge down in the cannon tube.
