#16557 - Cavalry Carbine Sling buckle Gaylord US markings This is a Union cavalryman's carbine sling buckle and batwing tip. It has some mild grittiness to metal from being buried. But you can still make out the Gaylord makers mark, the US stamp, and a few letters of inspector Sheppard's name on rear arm. Nice for the dug relic collector.
