#17785 - Cavalry saddle Leather Saddle Socket for CW carbine This is an original leather Civil War carbine "boot" socket that attached to rear side of cavalryman's saddle into which he could slide down the barrel of his carbine. Positioned in socket, it could be oriented to quickly withdraw the weapon on the fly. Some leather age wrinkling but solid with intact buckle & strap. No markings.
