#17800 - Sixteenth plate tin soldier with message to young Mary This is an original 1/16 th plate (1 1/2" by 1 1/4") Tintype of a older Union private. It comes in full leatherette case with original glass and brass mat. Green velvet facing pad. Behind the image in case is written (as best I can decipher the script) : "Mary Kendall on her 28-th birthday ... pass a few rolling years and she will be... still." Likely, this soldier is her husband or older brother, sending his image to his beloved relative. It's still uncertain who the solder was....
