#17801 - Groundburst Hotchkiss Shell from Faquier Springs These are three sections of a "groundburst" Union Hotchkiss shell that dug itself into the ground upon explosion. Recovered closely together are: large deformed section of lead collar sabot; part of nose showing inner fuse threading; and the cupped base section of the nose. All has some surface pitting to iron. They are now stabilized with a clear poly coating to prevent any future rusting.
